Tall ship races

Sail Training International vivids the maritime heritage by organising races on which youngsters from 15 to 25 years old take part. They are crew on about 100 vessels of which half are Tall Ships. The benefits are huge, it helps to conserve the cathedrals of the sea and it helps the youngsters to improve their skills. It is also a platform for international contact between youngsters. The trainees are often students and bright kids with initiative, people that might become of high value in a society that needs international appreciation and understanding.
The gatherings in port is such a sight, that most harbour city’s are very keen to get the Tall Ship Races into their ports.

In 2009 the STI organises 2 Races in the Baltic Sea:

-    First leg from Gdynia (Poland) to St. Petersburg (Russia)
-    Second leg from Turku (Finland) to Klaipeda (Litowenia)

Between these legs the STI organises a Cruise in Company. The fleet sails on a relaxed way along the most beautiful spot of the area, in contrast with the races, that are sailed fanatically without stops.

Morgenster made 2 voyages out of these three. We splitted the Cruise in company in two, and joined these parts to the Races. So now each Race has a peace of relaxed touring as well:
